Tyrannosaurus Rex
In June 2019, the Smithsonian Natural History Museum in Washington, D.C. opened its new exhibition “Deep Time - Hall of Fossils”. The star of the new hall is undoubtedly the Tyrannosaurus Rex, who triumphs powerfully over a no less impressive triceratops.
Beforehand, the skeleton of the T.Rex was painstakingly restored. The 3D digitization team from Smithsonian used this opportunity to create a detailed digital scan of the full skeleton.
For Smithsonian, Frame Factory programmed an interactive web experience that brings the T.Rex in all its impressive details to a wide audience. The 3D scene was created with the Voyager 3D Web Explorer, which we also developed exclusively for Smithsonian.
